Shrink Films

Shrink-wrap, commonly referred to in the packaging industry as shrink films, is manufactured and classified as a plastic product. During manufacturing, the plastic-based material is manipulated to produce a continuous thin film that is then tightly wound onto thick, layered cardboard rolls commonly referred to as cores.

Shrink-wrap rolls are produced in various lengths and widths; roll lengths range from 1,100 to 17,500 linear feet and roll widths range from 3 to 70 inches. Available roll lengths and widths vary depending upon the shrink-wrap wind and type.

There are two ways in which to wind shrink-wrap onto a core: Singlewound and Centerfold. Singlewound means that the shrink-wrap is wound onto a core in a single layer. Centerfold means that the shrink-wrap is folded in the center before it is wound onto a core in a double layer.

There are a variety of shrink films types. Each shrink films type is designed with special characteristics to meet specific packaging needs. For example, Sealed Air's CryovacÃƒâ€šÃ‚Â® line consists of 9 different shrink films - each provide product-tailored performance characteristics such as :

Cryovac Xenith Shrink Films

XenithÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¾Ã‚Â¢ film is soft enough to wrap products that will easily distort, yet strong enough to wrap irregular shapes and heavier products. All this and the optics and ease of use you have come to expect from CryovacÃƒâ€šÃ‚Â® shrink films. The strongest soft shrink force film available. Shrinks at significantly lower temperatures than other films. It performs well under widely varying operating conditions. Very high percentage of "Free Shrink". It can be re-shrunk over and over again. Stretch it, twist it, wrinkle it. Another pass through the tunnel fixes it. Unsurpassed elastic recovery.

Cryovac D-940 Shrink Films

CryovacÃƒâ€šÃ‚Â® D-940 soft-shrink film allows you to package soft goods without the buckling and distortion that can turn shoppers off at the point of sale. This soft-shrink film helps showcase items such as books, magazines, computer manuals, notebooks, photo albums, school supplies and printed or converted paper products. It's ideal for products packaged in lightweight chipboard trays or containers that normally buckle when wrapped with most shrink films. Since this film conforms to odd shapes, it creates a beautiful package for hard-to-package products.
